I drove up to Georgia to look for Many-lined Salamanders with Dan Rieck Saturday morning. After spending an hour or so sifting through leave litter and such, I was able to find two Dwarf Salamander, Eurycea quadridigitata. We finally gave up and decided to drive to ANF after seeing that rain was due to arrive late in the day.
Not wasting any time, Dan and I stop off at the Family Coastal Restaurant before cruising for Ornate Chorus Frogs. We were not disappointed, the food is always awesome!
It had rained enough to get the Ornates moving, so we were able to find several before moving on to bigger and better things.
I told Dan I knew a spot where Mole Salamanders might be moving and who knows, maybe a Tiger Salamander or two. Sad to say we found no tigers however, we did find nine Mole Salamanders with only one being a DOR.
I hope you enjoy the photos.

Very nice! I take it that this was closer to the Gulf? I visited the Camel Lake area in the fall only for a weekend, and decided that a weekend was not enough time to hit the area. Definitely planning a spring ANF trip...

Very nice. I have to get down to Florida more often. Perhaps permanently.

Nice stuff Daniel, those ornata are gorgeous. I'll be down in March, I may try to swing by your way. Hope you had a good holiday season!

I guess it didn't. DDD thanks for bringing me up there to find these awesome animals. Since my cam died ON THE SPOT, and I only snapped a few Iphone pics, I can relive the experience much better with your shots. Come to think of it, the mole salamanders look alot like flatwoods in these pics as far as patterning

Re: Winter Weekend in Apalachicola National Forest
You've spent years finding all the cool stuff so I don't blame you for wanting to get out of the state once in a while.

Those FL talpoideum are a little more speckled than ones I've seen up here.

Good stuff, Daniel! I've seen a few of Dan's shots pop up on FB over the past few days.

Rockin' post, DDD. Love those beefy, colorful Pseudacris and the Ambystoma talpoideum are just friggin' cool. Do you see many neotenic ones?
