I was fortunate enough to be able to spend the last two weeks of August in the Chiricahuas. Although I was there primarily to instruct at a class at the station I did see a few herps.
We saw a huge number of these guys patrolling the area.
A sad first for me. It was still moving when we found it
A sad victim of a flash flood, no amount of speed would have saved this one. We saw the flood the day before, it was quite incredible.
These little guys were quite abundant this season.
Short horned HL at the SWRS
Juvenile Leopard lizard, down in the flat lands.
Spiney lizard lurking
Black tailed rattle snake at the station. Right next to my car.
Someone disturbed his meal. Not me though. I was unable to stay around to watch him finish but finish it he did.
This was a rather small snake, 2 feet max, but had a nice set of rattles.
A different snake from a separate locality but not much larger than the first one.
Assorted toads
Just about the best shot I ever get of this species.
The most photogenic of all toads
Rainbow over the station.

Re: A couple from Arizona
The Chiricahuas were the first Sky Island herping I did in AZ and this post definitely reminds me of it (I haven't been there in a couple years). Nice finds!

Good stuff, Gordon. Huge bummer on the green rat!
Re: A couple from Arizona
I do have a great one of you sitting at the table Rep. Mike I was totally bummed by the rat. It was overall though not a bad year. There were a surprising number of juvenile lizards.
