Gonocephalus liogaster, found this morning. Gotta love their almost ridiculous belief in their camouflage: not only didn't he fail to react to my messing around with the photo bag & gear right next to his tree, but he also let me get as close as my 100mm lens would allow it - about two inches - and still believed I wouldn't see him. These are all full photos - no cropping involved.
Of course, when I tried to grab him by the tail after the photo shoot, he gained twelve feet of altitude in a spectacular hurry

I'm in agreement here - stunning eyes.
... maybe a close second is Gekko smithii?

Oh yeah - the Map-Eyed Gecko They occur in Borneo, too, but I've never seen them. I'll definitely have to ask around for their exact range.

Stunning!!! Borneo truly is a land of surprises!
Re: Borneo Dispatches #44: The Coolest Eyes in LizardDom
Are these eyes typical for this species or is this a rare mutation? If this is typical what is the function of such bright eyes? Attracting mates perhaps?

Re: Borneo Dispatches #44: The Coolest Eyes in LizardDom
Thanks, guys! The eyes are regular, hence the common name "Blue-eyed Angle-headed Lizard". I, too, have often asked myself what the color might be for....courtship, probably? Only the males have blue eyes, AFAIK.

That mosquito must also believe in its own camouflage. Beautiful lizard!
