Post by JaySteel »

Hi everyone.
Here are some of my favourite Adder shots so far this year taken at a few different sites across Kent in the UK.

One of those slow-worms looks a bit suspect

Beautiful snakes, the ones round here are starting to shed.

The photo showing the female Adder with five male slow worms was taken "in-situ" under a refugia tin. She was the first female I saw this year. Most of the males have now sloughed at my local Adder sites and they're looking good like the one in my first image.

Very cool, Jason. Great shots. I'm a big Vipera fan, and one day I'm hoping to do a Europe trip for 'em.

Thanks Mike. This is definitely the month to find and photograph adders. If you know where the hibernacular are then they are easy to find, their bright colours give them less camouflage than usual so they're easier to spot and they look great.

Agreed!! Big Vipera fan here too! Thanks for sharing! The first male is a stunner.

I was lucky enough to find V. aspis and V. ursinii back in 2008, but I definately hope to go back for V. berus and others!

Thanks for your reply. I'm glad you like them. The Asp Viper is definitely near the top of my list for snakes to photograph.
