Counting lousy photos and some old slides, I think I've got another 8 or so I think, unless someone steals them first. I guess I'll be playing with myself. ....I mean uh, by myself.

Here's a Silvereye (or Silver-eye, depending who you ask).

I can probably find the time to go birding on Monday. If I do, I think I might make it a priority to get pictures of the four easy winter time species around here that haven't been posted yet ;-)

Searching through my old photos for a greater or lesser blackbacked gull for the four of a kind game I stumbled across this pic that I had forgotten. It's crap of course, but less so than the ones I remembered so I'll put it up anyway just to keep thee game going.

Galah, Warren, NSW, Australia.

I found this bird standing next to the road a few miles out of town. It appeared to be injured although I couldn't see anything wrong with it. It was threatening me as I knelt down to photograph it.
I didn't know what to do because I was in the middle of nowhere (Warren, NSW is pretty much in the middle of nowhere). While I was taking its photo, a big dumptruck drives up, pulls over, and asks me "Is that Galah injured?". I said "Yes, I think so, but I don't know what to do with it?". The guy said nothing, grabbed his leather gloves, came over, picked up the squawking bird, got into his truck with it an drove off. I have no idea where he took it.

Kick this back to life with Pauraque

Image

Most lists have it as Common Pauraque, but I'm taking the IOC name as "official" to sneak it in here.

I'm done for now as well.

There are still a few Danish species left. None of them are regulars in my immediate neighbourhood but three or four I should be able to find without too much effort, so I may be back with a pic or two reasonably soon. For the rest it's either the wrong time of year or I'm in the wrong part of the country.

I think I have lousy photos still of some of these, but many are slides and I would have to find them. My Australian slides might be easier to find.

Apostlebird, Budgerigar, Canvasback, Cockatiel, Dunnock, Emu, Gyrfalcon, Phainopepla, Pyrrhuloxia, Takahe, Verdin, and Yellowhammer

From that list the dunnock and yellowhammer should be pretty easy for me around here so don't start with them ;-)

Those are the ones I will probably be last to find and if I have a Yellowhammer shot, it is awful. The Dunnock I'm not even sure if I've ever photographed one. I think you're safe.

According the the latest Clements taxonomy, Eurystomus orientalis is just the Dollarbird.

BTW - I found out you can download the Clement's list from Cornell if anyone wants it for some reason. It does have subspecies ranges if you have some split/lump issues in your birdlist.

Fair enough, I was still checking off the IOC list where it's listed as "Oriental"
