Re: Alphabirding
ooh, ooh, I get to use my favorite bird sighting from last year - Harpy Eagle!
Re: Alphabirding
SOOOOOO Jealous of your Harpy Eagle. Those immense birds are intimidating at a zoo. I can't imagine a wild one up close.

That's what I like about hummingbirds....there's always one with some crazy-ass name to satisfy any alphabet letters!

Wow, a double S bird again. Nice one Owen! (and cool shot of cool birds at that).
Since you had a shot of a group of birds, here's another group of S birds....
Swainson's Hawks...quite a lot of them actually
In case you are curious, yes, I did carefully scan the image to see what else might be there. There were a few dark phase Swainson's and a couple of Broad-wingeds, but most of these birds were normal light phase Swainson's Hawks.

Great bird, Hunter-Mx. Orange-breasted Bunting is one of my favorite little buntings. They (and Rosita Bunting) blow away our silly Painted Buntings.
I'll follow with another amazing little bird....

Rats! I've been waiting to play an "R" because I have a herp in a bird photo... maybe R will come around again and I won't be so slow on the trigger.
