I took this photo a couple weeks back, sent it to a friend for ID and she got it right!
Anyone care to venture a guess?
Hint: It's not Bachman's warbler.

PS: I know for sure what it is because I got a better look at it a few seconds after this was taken.

Re: Anyone care to guess?
That's pretty brutal Tim ...I'm thinking wood warbler but what has white behind the legs, then yellow on the untacs??? ...can't tell if that's the head showing or a leaf and can't see the bill for sure in either case. If it were west coast I'd probably venture Nashville but that is probably a casual migrant there in FL. Please hold out till a few more of us make fools of ourselves

This is a rough one. For some reason I am leaning towards a Vireo but I am not confident on any guess.
White-eyed Vireo or Bay-breasted Warbler.

Monk, I'm out of town at present. I'll check back in on Fri to see if anyone else chooses to venture a guess. Please hold out till a few more of us make fools of ourselves
The pic was originally sent to my friend as sort of a joke, but I was impressed when she ID'd it so quickly/confidently. I thought it might be fun to see how fast I got the same answer here.

Pine Warbler, Dendroica pinus.

Phttt. Sorry Andy, maybe the female but to grayish over all, in my not so humble opinion.Andy Avram wrote: Bay-breasted Warbler.

Dell, on the one computer I looked at the picture on it looked like the one leaf (the light colored one angling down into the bird's body) was part of the wing and the tip of the leaf has some chestnut coloration. Also the yellow coloration matches a female Chestnut, along with a few other warblers.
For various reasons I am sticking with the White-eyed Vireo that I originally leaned towards, as something isn't quite right for a warbler.

Re: Anyone care to guess?
My gut feeling is also White-eyed Vireo just by the morph and coloration.

Re: Anyone care to guess?
Andy and Chris, you two are are both correct...it IS a White Eyed Vireo!!
Big, big kudus to you both.
(Now I'm going to purposefully look for a tougher one and try to stump you.)

That was a pretty tough quiz. Chris seemed much more confident in the answer than I was though.
Can't wait for the next one!
