GA Coast in October

Post by Mattlesnake King »

Last week was rocking at the mouth of a small creek on the GA Coast. Mullet jumping everywhere and lots of sharks finning around. Landed and released this big stingray and several big reds.

Lots of shark action as well, including my new PB a 75" lemon. It was quite fat and actually jumped clear of the water when first hooked.

Saw a kingsnake and an eastern diamondback rattlesnake as well. All in all a good trip and I'll be fishing again in an hour or so.

That looks like a gas! Surf fishing is one of life's most pleasant experiences, and when you catch those bull reds and sharks, it must really be fun. You appear to be fishing a very shallow beach zone, it must be very exciting to coax a large shark in through the surf. Good for you and tight lines! Vic BTW, do loggerheads or other marine turtles nest on "your" beaches?

Yes a lot of loggerheads nest on that beach. Some years over a hundred nests on a few miles of beach.

Catching sharks on casting gear is quite a thrill. Had a 5 to 6 foot spinner shark straighten and break an 8/0 hook!

Nice Catch! How do you take out the hook without getting stabbed by the stingray or bitten by the sharks
