Looking for Puerto Rican herp id resources

Post by chrisr »

Hi,

just got from Puerto Rico and saw/heard a few herps. Does anyone know of a book or site I could use to ID what I found? Seems like there isn't a whole lot out there.

I didn't see a ton of herps (no snakes or turtles) but do want to find the names of the anoles I found.

thanks,

C

I didn't see any toads. I was in the El Yunque region and it looks like lemur does not occur there according to that website. It was actually a vacation with the wife who really wanted to do a "vacation" which for her does not include a whole lotta herpin. You can see a video I made from our fairly brief visit here:

I have no idea why I didn't use a tripod for the coquis; such a bad call! I was pysched to find them in the act of calling though.

I also wonder if I have mis-ID'ed any of the anoles as I didn't have a lot to go by when I edited this...

I'm sure we'll be heading back as we really liked our stay.
