I heard a couple days ago. This is a big loss. I've never met him personally but I have talked with him on a couple occasions about both herping and photography. My condolences go out to his family and friends. He's always shown nothing but respect toward me and toward everybody else it seems.

Sounds pretty similar to my experience, but yours might have lasted just a little bit longer. I did have mild itching in the spot over the next day or two, but I never received any delayed swelling.

I flipped these two spiders the other day under some rocks along a creek bed a few days ago in NW Arkansas... I see them all the time, but these two are the first I have photographed... and were a lot larger than most. I'm not sure if they're the same species or not, though.. This one was the smalle...

Sure they do. I see no real difference between finding suitable habitat for a certain aquatic and setting a trap for it and finding suitable habitat for a certain snake and laying out some AC.

I agree with the others. They're simply redbacks, in what some call the "Leadback" phase. I've found a few Southerns like that intermingled with "normals" as well as Ozark zigzags the same ways. I think they're pretty cool counterparts, to be honest.

Chris beat me to it, but both of his ID corrections are correct. Gastrophryne olivacea and Nerodia rhombifer for the Narrowmouth and Plain bellied water, respectively.
