I wouldn't do it, but I understand not everyone can justify the cost of a housing. I know they say you can still access all of your controls, but I can't believe it is all that easy if you can't see your buttons.

Downsides? Extra gear, extra weight, plastic mounts can break and nikon charges you and arm and a leg to repair them, take different batteries, time to set them up.

I also think that old nikon is probably just as sharp as the new version. I kinda like the VR but for flash work you don't need it.

Thanks. I am aware of how to save and zoom in on a picture, that is why I was asked if he had access to a full size or hi resolution version. You can't see anything meaningful trying to enlarge a 400 x 500 jpg.

I think they are Reef mantas, Manta alfredi . The divemasters said, "They are manta rays?" when I asked. Herps on Bora Bora were few and far between. There were geckos on most of the buildings at night, of which I tried to ignore. One day we came in the room to find this bear eating gecko....
