FLORIDA QUESTION VERO BEACH AREA
Hello, My name is Jim I post on here occasionally. I'm amateur when it comes to herping but working on getting better. I'll be in Florida (vero beach area) in March. Last time I was in the area I looked for pygmys and struck out. Does anyone have any good recommendations for herping areas around Ver...

Also a good place to start is contacting Fundacion ProAves. They are an organization that protects birds but they should be able to hook you up with good people.

Re: Question: Travelling and herping in Columbia
I would recommend getting a local guide that knows the country. I know plenty of people that have had a great time and no problems and I know friends of friends that had their hotel doors kicked in. Like any travel learn as much as you can about the areas you want to travel to and make local contact...

Very nice find and portrait. They are supposed to be truly rare. Jeff Thanks Jeff. My guide Ale found it climbing up his cabin when we were checking in. They have found them before but the problem is the Ecuadorian Choco region is destroyed so habitat loss is the biggest problem they are facing. Gr...

Not sure why but photobucket screws up the coloring and quality of the pictures. I did check to make sure they were RGB. Any suggestions on better photo hosting sites?

North West Ecuador Part 1
Hello all, I recently got back from exploring North West Ecuador with Tropical Herping. I only had four nights so we spent two in the Choco Lowlands near San Lorenzo and the other two in Mindo. I'll start with the Choco Lowlands. I really wanted to explore this area because it has been hit the harde...

Re: Hoping to go to the galopagos
I have not been to the Galapagos but I have been to Ecuador and it is a herp mecca. If you have anytime on the main land I would take a trip to Mindo. It's only about an 1.5hrs away from Quito. You can get up there and back in a day. I have done it. If you're serious about herping I would spend a ni...

Some of these underwater pics are epic. If you're into diving I would highly recommend Dominica. It also has endemic herps and birds.

I always love to see the in situ photos, and you have some cool frogs there. I would love to see more! I think your last frog is indeed Lithodytes lineatus (there's a typo in your spelling of the scientific name). Another name for that species is Painted Antnest Frog. John Thanks John. It was a coo...

Thanks. Yasuni is amazing. The overall abundance of wildlife is insane. If you are thinking about going definitely look into Napo Wildlife Center and pay the extra for a private guide. If you have target species they will most likely find them for you. I'm heading back to Ecuador this month but goin...

Hello all. I am new to the forum. I enjoy herping but I am not super knowledgeable. I have some experience but still a beginner. Looking forward to learning more.
