Interesting stuff.

Here is a photo of a couple of Lantern Bugs taken in Sabah. I can see the upper bug is Pyrops sultana, any idea on the lower spotted one? It doesn't seem to match with the ones you have posted. Thanks.

Thanks. The observation was made back in 2008. It took a while to realise the significance of it.

I am firmly in the Australia camp here. The wildlife, including the herps, is amazing. The countryside is stunning and the people friendly. The cost of living is slightly higher than other places but consider where you are living. To narrow things down further I really liked the area around Brisbane...

Looks like a Black-billed Magpie (Pica pica).

Checked on line and seems like it is found in Beijing along with Azure-winged Magpie (Cyanopica cyana) and Red-billed Blue Magpie (Urocissa erythrorhyncha).

This documentary aired in the UK a few months ago. I didn't expect to enjoy it but was absolutely hooked by the end of the programme. It's a classic and would echo 'Walk-about's' comments.

Hi Curtis, thanks very much for the ID on the Cambodian Flying Foxes - I had no idea. Great photos here. Turned up another bat photo.
