I'm considering a drive to Santa Cruz Mountains with hopes of photographing the Black Salamander and Gabilan Slender. At my house in SoCal this year it was dry-dry-dry! But how are the moisture conditions in San Fran/Santa Cruz, did it get much rain this year?

Went out last week with SurfnHerp and didn’t see a single horned lizard or large lizard species (i.e., Collared, Chuck, Leopard). However, I think they will all start popping up soon. There has been great spring weather in SoCal lately, in spite of the lack of moisture.

Sounds like your interested in just finding a Desert Horned Lizards since that is the species in Death and Joshua Tree National Parks.
