Re: Greenlee County King Snake

At the risk of getting my head bitten off... yet again... that sure looks like a Chain King to me.

(does anyone else see a pattern developing here?)

Re: Herping vehicle: Tacoma vs. others

All the others are based on the technology of the Jeep... you can't beat it. The Toyota looks cool (I remember the first 4x4 pickup)... still can't compare with the Jeep. I'm looking at the Toyota TRD 4wd w/ locking rear differential (getting stuck is getting old). Anyone on here own one and use it ...

Re: Red Bamboo Ratsnake (O. p. kawakamii)

Thanks much. I'll do that. On the spelling... I'm sure most thought it was a typo and just blew it off as such. Needless to say... that has to be cool finding such animals in your back yard. Thanks for the nice comments, everyone! Yes, I did indeed employ the plate to spin the snake any way I wanted...

The first tortoise is out of sombodys yard. There is no way that animal grew to that form in the wild.

Looks you had a dynamite trip.

ummm... water... comes to mind... the lack of it.

Along the same lines... Why are reptiles so over represented on the west than on the east...

Re: Red Bamboo Ratsnake (O. p. kawakamii)

First thought... oh crap... gotta learn a new name. Don't shoot me for continuing to use Elaphe out of simplicity. Second thought... it has to be wonderful to road cruise such an animal. Finally... I've got one of those which I'm trying to do something with but I'd like to know what subspecies it is...

I can give you the location of a path that goes through some wonderful habitat. I did find a few Gopher tortoise colonies and one of those special Pines. Email me at [email protected] if interested.

I believe they are a type of Sphynx Moth. I also believe that they are really common and impressive certain times of the year. They also have a huge range.

That is one of the most inspiring posts I've ever seen. That's the once in a lifetime trip I can only dream of.

On the first sunset shot... did you wait and watch the sun break the plain? That looked like the perfect opportunity to see the green flash.

Again... I could be wrong but I seem to remember hearing in a lecture that live bearing snakes are not truely viviperous.

Re: REQUEST: Post a pic of a Pine Snake track

I'm probably going to get distroyed for this but WTF...

My first thought is when a ratsnake does that kinked up thing when you come up on it either in a car or on foot. I wonder of it has a crawling position similar to this?

(ok... be gentil)
