Yah I was bummed to see that crushed chuck under that rock. That tort was a sad sight too, wonder how it died, dog or yote maybe?
Well the next step after finding a DOR is finding the live version. So a species for next time to find, crossed two lifers off my list of utah herps, with my kids at that.

Spend as much time as you can walking and flipping, bring a good flashlight to look into crevices.
Never spent time herping in Wyoming so someone else will be of better help than I. Research the types of herps in the area, find out the kind of habitat they like as well as what they eat.

That's nice tank. I like the mantis shrimp, boy they can put a hurting on you if try to handle them. or at least donate them to zoos or people willing to take them in with permits . . . plenty of other options, my grandparents have had one for over 30 years with a permit. took my kids down there and they got to "play" with the same tortoise I did while growing up. what a great experience ...

I try to lean towards the more naturalistic type enclosers as well when ever possible.
though I still have a few snakes on aspen for the time being, though slowly working all my herps to more natural type enclosure, much more pleasing to the eye among other things.

they tend to very in coloration quiet a bit, I've seen ones that have lots of red and ones that have a lack there of, then some with a faded white stripe down the middle where the red usually is.
