Here we go. I spent 16 days in Tanzania visiting my ladypartner who’s working in Dar es Salaam for a few months. We wanted to fit as much activity into the relatively short time rather than lazying around. We moved around all the time and spent two consecutive nights in the same place only once. The...

A nice little town with cheap accommodation, lots of backpackers and companies organising treks. It's very close to the Burmese (or Myanmar) border and as the p...

Re: Sampling adders in the finnish archipelago
Very interesting habitat! It appears that natrix natrix more often occurs as its melanistic form in the north of Europe than it does in the south? Could this be an adaptation to capturing more heat in the colder climate? Very plausible and even likely. Also, the yellow neck blotches have been shown...

Re: Sampling adders in the finnish archipelago
It is amazing to me that anyone could have a successful herping trip to an area whose latitude is north of Juneau, Alaska and most of the Hudson Bay, Canada. Very cool....literally! This is south for me :) The distribution of the adder goes all the way to Kola peninsula, which is 1000+ kilometers n...

Sampling adders in the finnish archipelago

All adders were returned to their original place of capture after sampling. I've just arrived from a week-long ad...
