Guessing it's too late for road cruising the low deserts. I do best late April until early July. I hear it gets ok again in late September, but I have yet to find a desert snake in the fall.

Re: 2 Banded Kraits and 2 Chinese Cobras
I believe the snakes get stuck in there. A few nights earlier, they found 1 cobra and 3 greater green snakes. Chinese Cobras are apparently common. Kraits are not though. It was a lifer for one of the other guys and only a second time find for the other. To find 2 was amazing. It was a really strang...

Thanks for the nice comments. I haven't runway cruised a snake yet, but I do look for them while taxiing out in Bangkok. There are ditches next to the runway with water....I'm thinking somethings got to be in there. If I ever see one on the taxiway in front of us, I'm stopping. I wonder what the tow...

Thanks for watching. Yeah, I believe it's a mountain garter too. No side blotching at all. I found 3 huge plywood boards behind the house we were staying at. Thought for sure I'd see something under them. I'm guessing earlier in the year would have been good. Yeah, good rocks everywhere. I would hav...

Re: Road cruising question/observations
I was cruising the low desert of southern California a few nights ago. It was 94 when we got there around 9:30pm. It stayed hot until we left. We saw 8 snakes of 5 species. 2 were unknown as they departed the road before we could find them. I really hate when that happens. Anyways, here's a video of...

Just back from our 6th annual kids in the desert trip. Last year was terribly cold and we didn't find anything. This year was a whole different story.
