Re: Racer and Watersnakes

Very nice C.c. flaviventris! One of my goals this year is to come across one of the very blue colored specimens.

Re: Western Patch-nosed Snake

Beautiful snake!

I can relate on having trouble getting them to calm down for photographs. I was trying to photograph a Texas Rat Snake yesterday and worked with him for nearly 30minutes trying to get him to calm down but he never did.

Re: Spring 2012 SC Chapter Field Trip

I'd be very interested in attending this. I am new to NAFHA and the forums, and I think it would be great to meet all of y'all from this area. I have camped at Sam Houston Park once before when it was very busy, though I don't imagine it will have as many people this time of year (I went during spri...

Re: Photographing my first Hot

Good for you. That's a beautiful animal. To put into words the lesson to be learned from your photo experience: when moving into "better lighting", be sure to pick a spot where the light is uniform: It looks like your specimen ended up in sorta blended light, with the anterior in sun and the poster...

Photographing my first Hot

I went to a new area today, just about 10 minutes from my house in a rural part of Montgomery county, Texas. I was hoping to come across C.c. anthicus , one of my favorite snakes in the area, but got a couple more surprises instead. After working my way along a creek (public land) I came to an sunny...

Re: Hello! - New to the forums, not to herping.

Welcome, Kyle! Very nice introduction! I'm always curious about this: what made you choose your avatar? Is that a favorite species, or specimen, or photo?... Gerry Coachwhips have been a longtime favorite of mine, and this was the first one I ever saw in the wild. I thought it was a good picture an...

Re: Hello! - New to the forums, not to herping.

Welcome aboard Kyle. If you don't mind, go into your user control panel and enter your location information so we have an idea where you are. Did you ID the lizard from Gillespie County? I've done a fair bit of herping in that county in the past. Where in the county were you? Chris Thanks, Chris. I...

Hello! - New to the forums, not to herping.

Hello fellow herpers! While trying to identify a lizard I recently caught and photographed on a recent trip with my Dad in Gillespie County, I came across this site. After reading and finding out about the amazing thing that is NAFHA (I love the data recording project), I decided to join and see wha...
