I finished the book a while ago, and most of the above is true. Very engaging book about a very interesting man. However, the World's Largest Viper touted in the title gets rather short treatment.

Hi all, I was asked by a friend to help him ID this snake. He photographed it in the remote mountains of central Papua (Indonesian side), around 1000m elevation. Off the cuff, I'd say Lycodon sp., but in those strange worlds east of the Wallace Line few things are ever what they seem ... Thanks very...

More info from the photographer: "Interesting idea on the B. dendrophila , the head looks right. Elevation right at sea level in forest at the edge of mangrove so habitat would be right for that species if it occurs there." Beautiful snake. Will verify when I've read it. Nothing, not even bad writing, puts me off like grammatical and orthographical errors..... I saw someone on Amazon complain about grammatical errors. That is one thing I cannot tolerate in a book, at least when they appear to be excessive (I mean, every book has typos)...

Yes, that's the general opinion, as far as I've gathered. Rather than fly, the thing also runs in jerky sprints, much like a tiger beetle.
