Re: 2011 Target Species

1. Spilotes pullatus Having spent MONTHS in their range/habitat and nothing! Not even a DOR. Now my #1 goal. Yet somebody goes on a "girlfriend trip" to a "resort" and finds one. You know who you are! 2. Amazon Tree Boa 3. Eastern Hognose (has recently dropped from #1 to #3 due to some nice finds :t...

Is that the best $.99 you've ever spent?

BTW, I have been victimized by Rob in the past. Herping with Smet is always entertaining!

End of year Part 2, Peruvian Amazon, Amphibians

I have been lucky enough to take multiple trips to the Amazon with Amazon Ecotours (formerly Margarita Tours). http://www.amazon-ecotours.com. We went in January of 2010 with a great group. That trip included multiple FHF users including David (Moloch), Dick Bartlett, Courtgaverth, and Young Cage (m...

I wish I could comment on your map, BUT, after quite a few tries, I have not found any in the panhandle. Maybe someday! Those you posted are so nice!

End of year Part 1, west of the Rockies

Well, I am way overdue for an update. With herps in my area gone for the winter, I have finally had a chance to organize photos. It has been a great year, I have had some great trips with some great people. I’ve met some great people and seen some amazing things. Some of these animals have already b...

I Can't believe you told anybody about the UFOs. Yes, it was plural!! Nothing like I have ever seen before. I thought we were going to keep that to ourselves.

If I can ever get some time, I'm going to put up a post, I'm way behind.

Re: Field book, guide for Madre de Dios, Perú?

Terry My version (and I think the only version of the book published) of Bartlett's book contains all photographs, not drawings. Most of the animals photographed are from the Peruvian Amazon. Though it not fully comprehensive, it will cover commonly found animals. Duellman's book is also very good. ...

I don't buy it for a second. Personally I think Hubbs maps are the best ever made for the getula group. More research is good, making quick changes is BAD.

Robbie I have the Henderson book and it's an OK read but does not have much on herps. There is a LOT missing from the book. It's OK on the common birds and mammals, but you will find it overall pretty lacking substance. Savage is the best and a steal at that price. There are some other guides that a...

I have spent some time there and found the herping to be very sub-par compared to the great islands to the west (St. Lucia, Martinique, Dominica). Lots of sea turtles though.
