Re: New Boa! Need a little ID-ing from you Boa Breeders!
Cole, unfortunately although planned, our trip from Roatan to the actual Cayos fell through. Most of the tours, including the one we were going on, stated that that boas were almost a guarantee on their jungle walk: http://www.cayostour.com/pink-boa-constrictor.html So, sadly another day for me. San Gabriel boa?
Jim, here's another one for you to beg some assistance from the boa nuts if you don't mind. This animal was billed as a San Gabriel, which appears feasible to me even though perhaps a little darker than some. Thoughts? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v231/kcmatt/1_photo.jpg~original http://img.pho...

Boa constrictor is likely extinct in the wild on Cayos Cochinos Boas are actually not extinct in the wild down there, Cole. We were down there last year and they are fairly commonly seen on island hikes. Some talk about it being separated out as a different species than mainland counterparts but no...

Re: Light or "hypo" Borregos out there?
I have seen a handful in my online forays for one that do truly look hypo. Many others though that look darker than several I have seen in the wild down there, advertised by breeders that seem to be competent. It seems as though if they start as relatively lighter-colored neonates they are sometimes...

I am really a field guy at heart but have had a sudden desire to try to breed a pair of rosys, and being out of the dropping season have had a harder time than expected trying to locate a nice light (do true hypos really exist from Borrego area?) female online. Well, invasives are bad but freshwater urban Hawaii is so darn sterile that I say let 'em be. The same goes for jacksonii, which doesn't get nearly the combat that even the more aggressive calyptratus, which gets a little more in the way of those little Hawaiian birdies.
