despite range maps showing "red-sideds" in eastern OK, all I've seen along the Arkansas border (mostly LeFlore & McCurtain Cos) would best be described as "easterns" - in other words, none had any red in the areas normally associated with "red-sided" garters

doesn't look like a hybrid to me . . . there is some variation in how well developed cranial crests are, especially on smaller toads . . . that one looks smallish - as they mature, the crests become more well developed.
