Over Christmas I got the Nikon D3200 kit. It's a good camera but I'm disappointed in its weak pop-up flash. Since I use a flash diffuser, this weak flash does not work as well as I need it to. I have seen snakes under tin that had been lain out just four days prior. It depends whether or not you want grass and vegetation under your tin. Awesome post! Some of those snakes have such awesome contrast.

Your "spotted salamander" is quite definitely a tiger, although that's as close to looking like a spotted salamander as they'll get.

You shouldn't have trouble finding some natural areas around Reynolds/Iron County.

It's probably a Psuedicris feriarum/triseriata. I know they sometimes interbreed in southern Illinois. Cool find though!
