The cabins aren't much more than the rooms at the lodge then. My cabin was only $99/night and it sleeps 6.

I wonder about this too, it seems like this chapter is very slow. Which is somewhat odd with Texas being part of the chapter. Are the other chapters in the same shape? Oklahoma has the same rules about not using lights on the road to hunt for animals. This largely applies to deer, but could be used to apply to herps. Salamanders will certainly be the focus of an Eastern Oklahoma hunt in April, you may be able to find some decent snakes/lizards flipping things and if there is rain you will be able to cruise amphibs.

to clarify the Bioblitz events are not put on by Oklahoma City Herp Society, they are done by the Oklahoma Biological Survey. I don't believe many members of the OCHIS participate in those events though it is my hope to increase that participation in 2015.

perhaps just some tips on swamp herping then? Do you guys ever get out and wade the swamps or do you mostly just flip trees. I would love to find milksnakes and mudsnakes. what do you guys find to be the best technique for that?

I saw on a facebook post a device that was small and portable that took all kinds of measurements including humidity, elevation, barometric pressure, and gps. The device runs about $150. Anybody here know of anything similar?

I know the Oklahoma City Herp Society currently has outings scheduled for April 12, June 14, and August 30. The first two will be hosted on members private property and the third will be at the Pennington Creek area in Southeast Oklahoma. Oklahoma also has the Bioblitz activity on October 4th weekend.

the other thing i may try is pit traps. I have always only found them while road cruising but I know they are there so I am going to just try different things.
