Re: I'm going to Borneo! Any advice?

Hi Entomancer. A couple of things that may help I attempted to get to the N.rajah site at Mesilau in Dec 2017. Mesilau was closed due after the earthquake and looked like it would not be opening any time soon. Sadly this means no access to rajah except at Mount Tambuyukon. There are other speccy Nep...

Thankyou, it certainly was cool to see. Yes we were in a mountainous part of the park and got great views of a storm rolling in.

Central NSW Australia Herp Survey

It’s been a while since I posted here and while much of my time at the moment is taken up with studies, I thought I might just put up some more short posts. This trip was an Australian Herpetological Society field trip. The AHS has multiple field trips per year where members get the opportunity to b...

Where to buy C.American field guide pdf/ebook?

Hello all, Does anyone know anywhere I can obtain a digital copy of "The Amphibians and Reptiles of Northern Guatemala, Yucatán, and Belize" Jonathan A. Campbell 1999"? I am heading to mexico for fieldwork over summer and am really keen to read this book, however have left it a bit to...

Moloch, Morelia and more, the Red Centre, Aus.

This trip was actually a while back now but I decided it was about time I did a write up. The trip was from Darwin to Uluru via Alice and back over the span of about 10 days. We covered some serious distance and saw some cool herps. It was in the middle of January and stinking hot, however we were b...

Very nice post! Envy you the Xenodermus ! As far as I know, Camponotus gigas was recently given the new and IMHO much cooler name Dinomyrmex gigas . Yes, that's "Terror Ant" :-) That horned frog...are you sure it was nasuta ? There are so many different hornies these days... Excellent tar...

Borneo report Part 1

Hello all, So it has been a while since my last trip so it is about time I put up some images. Ever since learning of the “Field Studies in the Equatorial Tropics: Borneo“ course offered by my Uni, I knew it was something I had to get onto. Desperate to return to the country of bizarre and mind blow...

Re: Australia 2016 Part 4: The Queen's Land

Fantastic Post. Great post and series. I'm sure I'll get roasted by proper Aussie herpers but that shot of the red-bellied under leaf litter looks quite like a small-eyed. Did you get a better look at it than that pic? I very much agree with krisbell on the Small-eyed snake. The unknown frog is also...

Re: Inland Australia

Good stuff! It's my favourite part of the country to herp. It rained the last time I was at Uluru as well, and those flying ants that come out make it absolute hell to herp of a night! Devis go all the way up into the blacksoil that is just south of Normanton. You get a few species there that you d...

That Diplo looks like conspiculatus to me - do you have shots of the tail from above and the mid body scales to confirm
Sadly the Gecko was a pain and I didn't bother with any more images. Next time I will have to be more patient.

Wonderful pictures! I think the ciliaris is my favorite out of the bunch. That tail makes you think of dinosaurs. Did you come across any goannas on your trip? Thanks Jon m.I totally agree, most if not all Strophurus are incredible looking things. We did see a lot of V.gouldii, a large and a medioc...

This quick trip from Cairns to Uluru and back saw myself and two other guys cram into a Jeep and travel some real hours. Our journey took us 2 days to get to the West MacDonnell National Park and then down to Uluru for 2 nights and a quick stop back into the West MacDonnells on the way home.
