Thanks Chris, I had never thought/heard of a laser pointer before. I think I'll try an F43 with a less-powerful flashlight, maybe an LED with the same color temperature as the flash, and see how that works.

Thanks! I've been using one of those uber-powerful flashlights, thinking that any kind of light would mess up the picture. I'll try a less powerful one. Cheap and easy, perfect!

Question for the Sony guys - flashes
I just picked up a new a77ii body and am starting to have some fun with it. I'm looking for an external flash recommendation. The application I struggle most with is trying to get decent in-situ shots of animals at night. What I've done to date is hold a flashlight in one hand, camera in the other, ...

The aberrancies in the hatchlings make me think it's the aberrant North SD male who did the deed. Nice to see a pic of a Catalina king! I would have expected to see more bands, in the one other pic I've seen of a Catalina snake there were LOTS of them.

I've never used methylene blue, and only rarely any kind of antifungal. I'm not sure, but it seems as if viable eggs produce some kind of anti-fungal agent (or perhaps dead ones are better food for fungus) - a bad egg in a container will have fungus all over it, but the viable ones remain unaffected.

I was about ready to give up on it, the end was slimy and not well-formed. But then it dried out and almost scabbed over. The rest of the egg looks, feels, and smells great. I've never seen one like this. It's about 6 weeks along. http://i449.photobucket.com/albums/qq217/lamprophil/funny%20GR%20egg....
