I agree with jimi . To be honest , I was just like that more than 15 years ago , I would look for places where the habitat was picture perfect , straight out of a book, dead ringer for target species including and especially simus. Thats very interesting because ive seen corn snakes do a very similar move when they are approaching a female to mate , then when they got to her started the jerk dance and tongue flicking the back of her head and neck

What a great idea matt, I'm going to green swamp tonight , I'll get some different tree frog tadpoles and check the seasonal pond to see if I can get a gopher frog tadpole , I've been finding them in the road around that pond . The ditches are slammed with tadpoles out there right now !!!

Great photos , and happy birthday!!! I lived in tha Appalachia mountains growing up and would find salamanders all the time , but I was a snake guy and past up some relly great finds , bummer ! There was so many different kinds the only ones I looked up to I.d. was a tiger salamander and twin spoote...

Very interesting , if you look at its feet , it does have the feet of a gecko , and it feet resembles that of the chinese giant salamander , and its head and body does as well. So by the photos the copperhead looked like it Caused more damage than the cottonmouth . Which venom is more potent ? Copperhead or cottonmouth any thoughts?

I love the green swamp!! So many dirt roads and different habitats, excellent road cruising and just hiking you catch tons of snakes and frogs!!! Invitation to all , pm me and we will hit some sweet spots ! I'm in north lakeland about 15 min from the swamp!!

Thanks mtratcliffe , I like to cruise pretty slow is it possible ? Or to many other cars to take my time . Does anyone know of any dry scrub habitat with hiking trails around the main road , a w.m.a. perhaps in that area?

I too think river, with those white spots on bottom lip ,and male river frogs tympani are larger than their eyes !! It would nice to get a good shot of his belly.

Your killing me softly with those muds trey, im in polk county and have searching like crazy in green swamp for one with no success, had two neonates given to me to be released by people who found them by a pond behind their house , but it's not the same when you dont find them yourself !!!
