In retrospect, I should have sat and observed this snake for a longer period of time. The coastie did have a few bulges in it's belly from a recent meal, what that meal consisted of I'm not sure. We've thrown out surfperch and smelt as bait and have hooked into Lingcod, the crabs are voracious at this time of year, a whole squid...or anything sitting on the bottom would be snatched up in a second. I have caught a few of the bays larger predators in years past, its fun but also gets kinda old...

I dunno why, but I feel like that snake is not native to the U.S... It reminds me of some of the patterns I have seen on Mangrove snakes and stuff like Black headed Pythons... might be an escaped pet.

Snagged one of Talltrees pics... Yeah I have noticed that in certain areas in Alameda county, that are all connected btw, have those higher band count black/crème/ black yellow kings. I have a field guide around here somewhere from the 60's and it mentions something to the effect of Mtn Kings pick up in density as the getula habitat becomes less ideal for them.
