Yes I think you are right, I don´t want to have problems with the rangers, so I think I will herping outside of the parks. I have seen that Yucca Valley is not so far away from Victorville. Problem will be to find a good abandoned road.

Think you are right; Barstow seems a good place for herping.
One question, near Barstow can be find the brown recluse also called violin spider and Black Widow?
Another interesting thing is that near this town there is a Park called Yarrow Ravine Rattlesnake Habitat Area.
