Thanks everyone for the comments. Jimi I've only ever found the single Kiamichi but I've never spent very much time looking for them either. If you decide to do a Salamander trip in the Ouachitas shoot me a message.

It’s been a few years since I’ve made a post here on FHF. I thought I’d share some of the Salamanders I’ve found over the years. I’m hoping I’ll get to add some new species in 2017. Sorry I’m not a great story teller and my photo’s aren’t the highest quality so you’ll have to use your imagination a ...

Wow... That was an amazing year. After seeing those South Texas herps I can't wait for spring so I can get out there. This is going to be my first year down here so I'll be happy with a quarter of your species list.

As I sit here freezing my @$$ off (it's 4° outside) in PA I can't help thinking about all the Salamandering I'm going to do as soon as weather permits. I knocked out quite a few of the common species last year in PA and WV. I thought I'd share some of my targets for this spring and invite others to ...

I thought the bottom was at first but because I didn't see the eggs I decided to check out its belly and chin. Belly was grayish and chin and throat was white. And those brassy/golden flecks. Is that normal for Northern slimys?Mike VanValen wrote:All of those are slimy salamanders.

I did a little salamandering in Tucker county last week. Found tons of duskies and Eastern Red-backs. A few Northern Slimys as well. Then I flipped this little guy. Of coarse my first thought was CMS. Now I think maybe Werhles? https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7339/13938567288_eca6faeed2_c.jpg DSC_874...

It depends on what you want to see. If you are taking nonherpers along I highly recommend taking the glass bottom boat ride at John pennecamp SP. My kids had a blast. We saw a ton of sea turtles on the coral reef and there's a few invasives ( iguanas and geckos) in the park itself. Unfortunately tha...

Your IDs are correct. Desmog 1 is a seal. the others I would want to see where those counties are located first. Thanks For the confirmations and the Seal ID. I thought that's what it was. The three desmog species that can be found in those two counties are Seals, Northern Dusky and Allegheny Mount...
