I dig 'em for sure....one of those critters that not many people target, but I'd personally rather see a nice oreganus than a zonata any day!

The Bay Area oreganus extravaganza
I grew up in the Bay Area...Lived there for 16+ years...I can remember as a kid fantasizing about the rattlesnakes in the hills...I very distinctly remember seeing my very first wild rattlesnake (hiking with my mother) curled up under a big patch of poison oak when I was 8-9 years old.... And then I...

Yes. Arizona can be VERY productive in the spring, depending on the area you herp as well as the species you're looking for.

A reintroduction and a C. cerberus menagerie
It's been forever and a day since I've posted here, but I've missed this place so I thought I'd reintroduce myself by throwing up a few photos of one of my favorite native AZ species, C. cerberus. All of these photos were taken in the wild, as the animals were encountered and completely in situ. The...

I'll echo what others have said. You need to narrow your focus into one or two salient points and then expand upon only those points. Maybe, but could you really do that in the price range? I guess 300 f/4 with a 2x, but now you are talking about a 600 f/8 lens. Even if the quality is great, the speed loss is noticeable. A good 400 f/5.6 + 1.4 might be a workable option in this price range, but still not fast. Chris, I got a Cano...

I'd be primarily concerned with image quality first and speed second. 150-600mm coevers a NICE focal range, but if the lens offers only subpar optical performace at the longest focal lengths, then it may not produce images that are satisfactory. The price is nice, but again...in photography you ofte...

Mike, If you're no longer invested in either system and want to give Canon a shot, you'll find plenty of options available.
