Wow! You got some great stuff here! I would love to check out Mexico some time but am not brave enough...working alongside the Border Patrol for the last 5+ years makes me too aware of the issues down there. Hopefully you all didn't run into any problems.

Thanks everyone for the kind comments so far. I'm really not that great with Whiptail ID's, so the Red-backed could be something else.... Not sure if they change coloration during breeding season like some of the other lizards do here.

For some reason I have yet to get a cooperative Long-nosed Snake to pose for me. Or a Sonoran Coralsnake for that matter. They both are constantly on the move when I run across them. :(

All were found during the day including the kingsnake. It might have been around 4-5 pm when I found this crossing a dry wash.

Thanks everyone! I've been told the king is a 'Yuma Phase' by some of the more knowledgeable folks here on the forum and elsewhere. I love Arizona as a whole and the diversity it has to offer.

I've had the D5100 for a year now and use it often w/ a Tamron 28-300 VC lens. I've never had any issues with the camera body itself, but that lens can be problematic. It's great for 'grab' shots but if I want high quality I have to use my Nikon lenses. The camera itself handles low-light situations...
