Sorry guys, but one of us is misunderstood and I don't think it's me. DX lenses came about due to the crop factor of the DX sensor. A Nikon 18-55mm DX lens will give a focal length of 18-55mm on a DX sensored camera. An 18-55mm NON -DX lens will yield a 27-82.5mm focal length. Kevin you are accurate...
