Re: The Great Northwest Herp ID Contest: Week 1
Fieldnotes has it right. Great challenge Jonathan, really shows how similar some unrelated salamanders can be. I am alaways amazed at how close the Dunn's and Cloudeds can be. Some parts of WA can be really tough when you get three of the plethodons together. I have found Van Dyke's, Dunn's and WRB ...

NW Herp Gauntlet 2013 (Pic Heavy)
Last May Andy O'Connor, Chris MacDonald and myself took our annual big herping adventure. This year our goal was to make a epic circle going through spots in the Willamette Valley to Klamath Mountains of CA and OR then to locations in the Northern Great Basin of NV and OR. I will keep this post main...

Jonathan: It was once I had walked up to it and was standing over the salamander. The head, body shape and the tail were all dead copei give aways.
Travis: You jinxed us over here. Cold north wind all day, temps are barely supposed to get above freezing the next couple of days.

Thanks Jeff. I am a Steeler fan so I am public enemy #1 up here in the NW, well probably #2 now that they hate the 49ers. Good for the area at least, I just wish the game was competitive. That was a pure beat down.
