Josh, I guess it depends. On the herp atlas, there are WAY more vouchered records of rainbow snakes than Mole Kings and South Florida Mole Kings. As far as the ratio goes for the two, there has been more SFMK found than normal Mole Kings. One of the reasons why I think we don't see a lot of regular ...

Thanks, Noah. They are pretty common throughout every season in Florida. They are commonly seen in spring crossing roads or under AC and during the summer I tend to see them before, during and after rains crossing roads at night.

For sure! You are always welcome to come on Striped Newt surveys with me. I just need to find an area where they are currently breeding. I sampled over fifty ponds in 2013 in a 4 county area with no luck. As far as the Spotted Turtle goes though I will be in Alachua trying to get them.

Noah, crowned snakes can be easily raked in areas with loose sand and with leaf cover. I have raked them under oaks and longleaf pine straw in sandhill and scrub habitat. You know you're in a good area if you are raking up centipedes in which they prey extensively on.

Whenever certain swamps dry out, flipping logs in the mud can turn one up. I found a 18" male under log in March of this year. Good luck just be consistent.

Doug, I don't have the Palm Beach kings anymore as I just wanted to keep Eastern Kingsnakes and intergrade Eastern Kingsnakes those were wildcaught another guy. The Levy Kingsnakes are indeed Nick Mesa's line of intergrade kings that originate from that county.

I keep them, they are fantastic snakes. WC and CB. I am currently trying to breed my own in captivity, but I've had others that were captive bred. I like to keep my adults from wild on toads. I think its wrong to switch them over to rodents, when they have been eating toads there whole life. However...

I convert the Southerns not the Easterns I have right now. I will convert baby Easterns to rodents, but stuff adult Easterns that have been collected from the wild need to eat amphibians. I believe it is wrong to change somethings diet it was eating its whole life, but they do fine if you start them...
