Real time herping Instagram accounts
Hey guys, does anyone here uses to post in Instagram stories videos while herping? Or can point anyone who does? I am getting kinda addicted to watching these kind of videos showing herps in situ as found or just the act of looking for them. Thanks in advance

Great trip. I am planning to reach Chile, Bolivia and Peru in next vacations. Am I wrong or the lizard fauna was richier in Santiago and south Chile than Atacama? Just one more question: do you know if it is needed license to turn rocks? I bet I could not control myself haha

Re: How to differentiate between Clelia, Pseudoboa, Drepanoi
One more thing that should help, at least with southeastern brazilian Pseudoboa, they have unique subcaudals. This may work with amazonian too. Dont know about Drepanoides, but Clelia I am aware that have double subcaudals.

The first gecko, which you asks if its H. frenatus, actually looks like Lepidodactylus, maybe L. lugubris. After that, Gecko 1 and 3 are H. frenatus. Gecko 2 is Lepidodactylus again.

Thanks a lot Kfen!

thanks Mike! Well, it is getting harder to know what this species prefer. The only thing that seems is helicops like water. I hope I can find Pseudoeryx and Hydrops too. and maybe M. surinamensis.

Nice! A little bit old topic, but I would like to ask where did you find the Helicops? Inside water I believe, but in river, stream or stagnant pool water? How did it behaves when you aproaches next to it? thanks

Re: Frogs at Pumarinri Amazon Lodge, N Peru
The is no Kentropyx in these pictures. All green lizards are Ameiva ameiva. Frogs 2094 and 2083 are from genus Scinax. S. ruber maybe. Frogs 0161 and 0147 are Ameerega trivittata. Geckos 9944 and 9936 are definately not H. mabouia. I believe they belongs to genus Phyllodactylus.

The first lizard is from the genus Enyalius, being probably, E. iheringii.
The other lizards have the right genus ID, but I am unable to tell with the pictures.

Re: Realization? massive bipedidae range extension in Brazi
Thats right Cole, Gymnophthalmidae are sometimes hard to identify without microscopes. Bachia is not common in southeastern Brazil. As Alex found some Brachycephalus (B. ephippium I believe), probably he went to Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo or Minas gerais state south borders and I dont believe he coul...

Re: Realization? massive bipedidae range extension in Brazi
Hey Alex I am from Brazil and for sure there is no record from any Bipedidae in Brazil. The 2 more common genus from southeastern Brazil are Amphisbaena and Leposternon and they have no traces of front legs. In Brazil theres a lot of small-legged snake-like lizards species, some are somewhat big lik...
