I've wondered about this as well. As for reintroducing R. draytonii to SoCal using Baja stock, this is currently being investigated.

Re: Weekly Alameda County Herp Report,Getula,Gilberti, ect,ec
I was kinda hesitant to call them gilbirti from this locale at first, I'm far from a herpitologist, that is for sure. But what had me convinced was the first two skinks found in the lower elevation, with the pinkish/orange tails were all alot smaller than the "for sure" Skiltons found up h...

Have Gilberts been voucherd in alameda county yet? Do you mean for the NAFHA database, or have they ever been vouchered from Alameda Co.? If the latter, the answer is yes. The type locality for Plestiodon gilberti cancellosus is in Alameda Co., and if you're finding these skinks where I think you a...

Very interesting posts re: your skink finds. Despite the change in tail coloration, all the skinks you have posted in this thread appear to be skiltonianus . Adults of this species in some populations acquire a reddish or orangish caudal coloration with age. However, the skinks you posted in this th...

Yes, there are southern sagebrush lizards on Laguna, few records though.

Your skinks are interesting. Can I ask what range you were in? They are both skiltonianus of course, but it's interesting that the old male has taken on the orange-tailed character that gilberti express as adults. Lots to figure out with these skinks...there are also the red-tailed skilts of n. Baja...

Very nice. I really like your Grismeresque "in habitat" shot. I've been holding off on H. shastae lately due to lack of recent precip, although that part of CA got pretty drenched by a quick storm right before New Years. I like this shot from last year, but I haven't seen a large adult wit...

Horned Lizards of 2011
I only observed CA species this year, but it was multiple representatives of all four spp. indigenous to the state. So this, I believe, was the first time I’ve seen all four in the same year. Re: POLL - Proposed Changes to Database and Taxon List
Mis-ID's or not, C. longicaudae needs to be an option. It is a valid taxon of California's herp diversity.
Some people are still entering California populations of Phrynosoma blainvillii as P. coronatum. As taxonomy changes it's simply a difficult thing to get everyone on the same page.
