I'm in the Piedmont of South Carolina and have found a few Reds.I have two small rocky and mossy creeks in the mixed pine-hardwoods around the house.Both are fed from springs.I tend to find both larva and adults near the springs. I use a sit-on-top Yakboard by Ocean Kayak.I paid $250 new several years ago.It's small enough I can easily handle by myself(loading on top the car etc.) and is easy to manuever and very stable.I've used it in ponds,rivers and in the ocean off Edisto Island. Looks like two different events. The carapace seems like the typical result of being stepped on by a cow. Mud turtle survivor

I used plywood to build this one.Then I put plexiglass on the bottom and several inches up the sides and siliconed the seams.I put a divider in the bottom and was able to make it about two-thirds land and one-third water with a waterfall.Has worked well so far.I can water the plants and not worry ab...

Looks like the first ones could be Blackbellies(Desmognathus),southern redbacks and more of the Desmos further down.Sorry it's not much help.There are a lot of different Desmos in this area and hard to tell one from another for me.They usually have the small,light stripe from eye to cheek.Can be see...
