I'm in the Piedmont of South Carolina and have found a few Reds.I have two small rocky and mossy creeks in the mixed pine-hardwoods around the house.Both are fed from springs.I tend to find both larva and adults near the springs. My turtle dog Bill sniffing out a Kingsnake in a bush that I had walked past without noticing it.He is almost 16 now and can't make it to the woods anymore though.

I use a sit-on-top Yakboard by Ocean Kayak.I paid $250 new several years ago.It's small enough I can easily handle by myself(loading on top the car etc.) and is easy to manuever and very stable.I've used it in ponds,rivers and in the ocean off Edisto Island. Looks like two different events. The carapace seems like the typical result of being stepped on by a cow. Mud turtle survivor

I used plywood to build this one.Then I put plexiglass on the bottom and several inches up the sides and siliconed the seams.I put a divider in the bottom and was able to make it about two-thirds land and one-third water with a waterfall.Has worked well so far.I can water the plants and not worry ab...
