Herping Greece for the first time (snakes included!)
Hi! My name is Seva, I’m 21 years old, Russian by origin, but right now live and study in Norway. This year, crazy dictator’s ambitions made our family reunion in Russia very difficult, so me and my parents opted to meet each other in Greece. I chose the island of Zakinthos, or Zante, as it seemed a...

Re: HERPING SIBERIA! Lots Of Photos, One Snake
Awesome! Can't say I've ever seen a Siberian herping post before. Any more pics of the snake? FH Thanks for reading! Here are two more pictures of the pitviper. Actually, I've seen two specimens of this snake, but only one gave me a chance to take a photo of it. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4346/...

Re: HERPING SIBERIA! Lots Of Photos, One Snake
Siberia is a very underrepresented place in nature circles. Loved the series from Lake Baikal - I hope to visit there someday. The Siberian Pit Viper is only one of three snakes species in Siberia, correct? Do you know how many amphibian species there are? - Matt Thanks for reading! In Siberia you ...

When Dreams Come True! Karelia, Russia
Hi everyone! It's me again, and I had recently went back to Moscow from Karelia, where I found a species of herp, which was new for me. I was walking along a forest road and stopped near a small swamp to photograph some frogs (Rana temporaria) mating. https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7020/26818674885_...

Re: Almost every herp species of Karelia + extremely rare fi
Interesting stuff. That black lizard is really beautiful. You may not have that many species in Karelia but considering it is as far north as central Alaska here in North America it is amazing you have the number of species you do! How long is the herping season up there? Thank for replies everybod...

Re: Herping in Russia, Dosang, Astrakhan region
Hi everyone! Thank you very much for your replies! I'm glad I've finally found so many people interested in herping. But now here will be some photos of non-herps species from Astrakhan steppes! Trail of the long-eared hedgehog (Hemiechinus auritus). I've seen some individuals of this mammal at nigh...

Re: This Was A Rare Treat
I've seen few photos (herping, hiking or otherwise) from the deserts of Central Asia. I thoroughly enjoyed the landscape & nature scenes. I'd love to visit the region, especially around the Caspian Sea where you were. Thanks especially for the photos of the Desert Sand Boa . I have never seen o...
