Wow fantastic for this early in year. The newts reminded me of a farm ponds in Mass as a kid, all the relatives meeting at Grandparents and us kids just marveling at them coming up to gulp air from the cloudy water. Don't see those numbers here in WI.

Primarily blue spotted salamanders, being they are smaller you will have to drive slow. Roll East to west on southside followed by Northbound west of Pond. I really like the subject level shots like Snapper, when on center the subject really jumps at you. The off center ones look cool to "me" but I think the centered ones at eye level would look great to all. Again I like them a lot!

Much like Chris' under exposed picture the jpeg counterpart to this one was difficult to see squirrel in flight with dark background, I like the action so I quickly made it usable today in raw. Great replies all, the example above is outstanding and almost favors jpeg but your follow up has me set on trying raw "first" as Ive read many never switch due to habit (starting with jpeg). My brain is quickly filling up, will start slow practicing this weekend and trying different editing software.

Labor day, into 80's a quick peak shows babys still there, 2 additional spots yielded more Timbers and a huge Bull snake relaxing in a den. Went back this morning 6 days later. Overcast and drizzle I saw yet another adult but smaller under same opening peaking out. Made the rounds on bluff but only saw heads peaking out of dens. Walked below area of pictures and shined a small LED inside....they are still there! Saw several 6 lined race...
