Re: Gila Monster on Google Street View
That is amazing! Good catch. Did you have to zoom in before you knew what it was? Were you looking out for something like this? I might have missed it if I was doing street view on that street. I was actually using Street View down that road to try to pinpoint where I'd seen my own Gila at the park...

Re: Anza-borrego advise?
In California I think technically you need a fishing license to even go out looking for reptiles, but realistically no one's going to be able to enforce that, especially if you're not even catching to photograph. If you're going there to photograph "wilderness" and not reptiles specificall...

Re: Snakes Of Inner Tucson?
In my Tucson trips I've never seen any snakes in the city itself. There's plenty in the more residential neighborhoods outside of the main city grid, but it doesn't sound like that's what you're looking for. I've heard people find the small insectivorous snakes like sandsnakes and threadsnakes in th...

That's a beautiful coachwhip, all I ever seem to see when I'm in Arizona are the black morphs around Tucson. And congrats on the Gila, they're always awesome.

You're all killing me, I've been driving all over Northern California this spring trying to find a boa with no luck. If anyone wants to PM me any hotspots I'd really appreciate it.

Southern Florida late March/early April (pic heavy)
Edit: Pics should be fixed now... The last week of March into the first few days of April I took a early Spring herping trip down around Southern Florida. I didn't see much in the way of snakes aside from common water snakes and ribbon snakes, it was either still a bit too cool at night or I just ha...

Just another echo that those Red-barred Dragons are gorgeous. Who decided to pass those up and start mass-breeding boring old Bearded Dragons?

Re: Herping in May?
Well I'm not from Arizona, but I'll chime in with what I've experienced on trips there. May is decent, but not as good as during the monsoon season, and nights seem to still get a bit too cold for much activity (though of course that varies). Daytime temps are good and diurnal animals tend to be act...

Re: Lizard ID request
I would second the Sonoran Spotted Whiptail guess - http://www.reptilesofaz.org/Lizards-Sub ... norae.html
They tend to be the most common whiptail in the rockier areas around Tucson, at least in my experience.

Re: A week in the United Arab Emirates
Amazing animals, I didn't realize the UAE had so much diversity in such a small area. How easy is it for a Westerner to go wandering around the desert there? Is it best to be with a guide?

I think the photos look great, although a bit too small perhaps. You might try sizing them just a little larger.
Hope to see more of your pics in the future...

California Spring/Early Summer 2015
This is my first try using Google Photos as an image host, let's see how it holds up... This has been kind of a weird year weather-wise in California. Spring got off to a warm but dry start, but summer's been all over the place. We've even been getting some June rain here in Northern California, whi...

Gorgeous collareds, they're one of my favorites. I guess I'll have to add Oklahoma to my list of places to check out.

Re: Visiting (again) Tucson from the East in Mid May
I'm not an Arizona native but I try to go there once or twice a year, and I've had good luck on both April and May trips. Of course sometimes cold snaps can still happen at that time in the year and completely ruin your week. On average I've found nights to still be a bit cold for heavy of snake act...

Re: EOY Blue Iguanas, Pyros, and What a 6-ft Caiman is Afrai
Those blue iguanas look awesome, how common is it to see them now? Reading up on their Wikipedia page it sounds like they're making a decent recovery. Awesome post. That looks quite a tick on the chin of that Rococo Toad... I'm surprised it was able to get so much blood out of such a thin part of sk...

Yet another 2014 year-end roundup
Hi everyone, I've lurked this place for a while and enjoyed everyone's awesome pictures, and I finally figured it was time to join up and start contributing my own stuff. And what better way to start that with a slightly-late 2014 round-up? Unlike most people in the hobby I'm more interested in liza...
