Re: 2016 Review Part 4

Awesome pictures Rye! What camera gear do you use? Thanks, Dan. These were taken with a Nikon D3200 and the lenses are a Nikon 16-85mm f/3.5-5.6, a Nikon 40mm f/2.8, a Tamron 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6 and a Sigma 10-20mm f/3.5. Very cool. I shoot nikon as well. I'd like to get out and use it more while he...

Re: 2016 Review Part 1

I'm with you on that Rye, I'm still learning too. You are correct though on it being a redtail. I was basing it initially on the amount of white coming up into the head. Almost all the redtails I've seen have had a pretty distinct line at the neck where it changes from light to dark feathers. Howeve...

Re: 2016 Review Part 1

Nice pics Rye. I've been having a fun time finding raptors this winter as well! That one you have listed as a red-tailed hawk appears to actually be a ferruginous hawk. Do you have a Instagram account I can follow? That's where I post almost all my pictures now.

Thanks for the help Rye. It's been a while since I've been in an area to find garters. It was nice to find one again.

Daniel Lindhardt (hondo-dan) Tooele, Utah
Always had a love for herps , snakes in particular. Alway looked for them when I got a chance growing up. Just the last year or so, I and my kids got more into learning and finding the different herps Utah has to offer. Still have a lot to learn and find.

Re: Utah 2014-Wrapping it up

Nice year Rye. Those ground snakes are beautiful and I've always been a fan of the cal kings. I'm hoping to get down to St George this next spring to find those.

kingsnakes

Anyone in the salt lake area have experience finding mountain kings around here? I'm fairly new to somewhat serious herping and was checking the range of the various snakes in Utah. I noticed the mountain kings have a pretty extensive range. Are they as hard to come across as milk snakes or ringnecks?

Hello all, The name is Daniel Lindhardt. I was born and raised in Salt Lake City. Currently live in Tooele, Ut. I've always had a fascination with reptiles, snakes in particular. I lived next to a field where I could catch all the garter snakes I wanted, along with the occasional yellow bellied race...

I'd be interested in meeting up with you out there. It'll have to be when I get off work though? How long will you be out? What's the best way to get a hold of you?
