Re: 2017 California Chapter Nominations Time- Do we Continue
I'm not sure how the other chapter forums are doing, but the AZ Chapter has had less than 30 new threads since the last election. It's definitely not looking good right now. If we don't get the required officers then I think it might be time to do away with the chapter(s) and just keep the main foru...

After taking a good second look at your photos, I believe them both to be Chiricahuas. The color on the second one is a little unusual compared to what I'm used to seeing, but everything else matches up.

There's nothing fictional about Tucson Shovel-nose, other than the subspecies not being recognized anymore by a lot of people. Personally, as long as it's a valid subspecies in the database, I'll use it. Even if it's just to identify the color phase. As for them being "extinct", that's onl...

I agree with Fieldherper on this one. June usually isn't a great month here. Although every once in awhile we get some June showers like last year, and it's not so unbearable. It's a good thing that you set your limit at only seven species of rattlesnakes, because that's all there are within 50 mile...

That's a pretty vague question. I'm not really sure how to answer it. Are you looking for roads, trails, or both? What are your target species? And where is it you plan on hunting, Phoenix or Tucson? Being a little more specific might get you more responses.

Head lights are exceptible. It's things like kc lights and light bars that are not permitted. The regs also state that hunting from a vehicle is unlawful, which I guess technically makes road cruising illegal. But I've never heard of anyone getting fined for it.

How early in June will you be here? It looks like the full moon will be on the 3rd. Which means road cruising won't be very productive until probably the 6th or so. Fortunately for you winders are one of our easiest snakes to find. And they can usually be found in good numbers. Look in the flats sou...
