One day in the 1980s I made a long hike from the floor of CA's Owen's Valley up to a lake to do some fishing. The start of hike was in that magical hour of the morning when there is a lot of lizard activity. Mostly whiptails, western fence, and sideblotches, but I recall a few zebratails, one leopar...

That's very cool. Nice video of the Green Frog eating the Wood Frog tadpole. I have observed something related to this, look at http://www.ohio.edu/people/brune/ohio-13/ohio-13.html about 1/3 of the way down, taking about May 19... Very different story for toad tadpoles.

The article didn't really resonate with me. In my view, it understates the checks and balances that are in place. For example, a university faculty member must answer to funding sources, students, and peers. Maybe not instantly, but if you go too far off the rails you will pay a price. Some other th...

A lot of fishing can be done on the cheap. Stream fishing for trout for example, assuming you live in the right area. But with fishing, spending money often translates into access to more opportunities. For exaple, in the southeast, it seems like most all serious fishermen wind up owning a bass boat...
