Lateralis...I take you are talking about the TA's...I've spent a lot of time in that range also. I've spent 2 days looking/scouting for rats in the south end of Davies Valley. When you compare the 2...the TAs are much easier to get into. There aren't any roads that are gonna take you right into wher...

I found Garter snakes along the Kern River at night while looking for Crayfish. Some were above ground as if sleeping on branches, and some we might of just scared out of their spot by walking through the grass...I don't know. I have also rd cruised hammondii at night before also.

Wow, herping in both of those ranges in Baja quite a few times, I never even realized Sagebrush liz were not in the Juarez. They sure are everywhere in the Martirs.

Blind snakes too, Jim. I'm sure they are on coastal slopes and desert slopes of the berdoos. I have got one in the Cajon Pass, so I'm sure they are all through the berdoos.

Brian's Ensatina is not normal or average. I have seen MANY Ensatina in the berdoos and have never seen a very light "ghost" looking one. Some have orange blot hint at times but that is the most uncommon I have Personally seen. That is a very cool salamander Brian.

Partly cloudy in lake Arrowhead now. It was crazy windy all night and a lil bit misty this morning. But as for real rain...no. There is a slight chance for it tomorrow and sat though. What amphibs are you looking for in the berdoos ?, if you don't mind me asking.

4 is a lot of DOR boas in a night. Not saying it isn't possible or didn't happen. Most I have seen in a night is 2, and that was only one time-(bahia de concepcion, bcs MX.) one thing is for sure...if you were out looking for boas and found 4 DORs in a night, I think it's safe to say your night SUCK...

Boas, although I have come across more DOR boas than others I think. A lot of guys who focus on boas don't find many DOR, some guys go as far as swearing up and down they will NOT come on the pavement in certain areas.

Really, you guys spend more than 2 hrs a day in the field to find something ?. I agree with Fundad Jim, true low des is harder to find stuff than the high des of cali. I spend a lot of time in the low des and don't find much. The other night was my first night all year in the high des and one of the snakes was a trimorph.
