I use to use Mirrors on all my aquaria and Vivaria. This was a 70s fad for aquarists, adding a glorious dimension for display. Anyhow, I observed this all the time with my Colubrids and Boids and even the tetras, as you mentioned with your Coastal.

Re: Who keeps venomous on here, and what do you keep?

The "system" is so broken down in Ca, that all I dare do is gaze at snake porn images of venomous on Fieldherp. Various Arboreal Pit Vipers would be my first choice! I use to keep Ahaetulla nasuta in the 70s(in those days they went by Dryophis nasuta I believe.) but that's about as close t...

Cool article Bethany and congrats. Loved the photos. While I'm usually attracted to an animal by their form, I have to flip a coin when it comes to Abronia with both form and color you so nicely captured. I'm also so glad to here about the in situ breeding project. Seems like conservation through th...

I'm afraid the drive to handle any "vertebrate" till I was 13 was so overwhelming (in particular venomous forms) only a hefty bite could deter me. Thankfully, newly discovered girlfriends interviend to my parents relief!

I NEVER cull the mother because over her first litter. Often the subsequent generations are left alone by the mother. If they are not by the second , then its off to the snakes for her and everyone in her bloodline!
