Rusty - I took a few pics but they are buried, unprocessed on an external hard drive. Was there a particular reason you ask about the red rat? It was pretty typically patterned and colored.

Many thanks Jeff, and yes indeed the inserts are the new photo hosting - I was not aware of the problem prior to making my post and have only just read the post detailing the issue. It was quick, simple and intuitive to upload to this site.

I know exactly how you felt - my first (and last) coastal taipan I watched getting run over and dying a minute later.

On my last trip to Asia my top two targets were King cobra and monocled cobra and I found both, both DOR.

Yep, I too had noted the striking similarities - not that I am a Pokemon player of course! The best thing about this Pokemon craze is that it now makes it easier to explain the attraction of herping as a hobby.

Many thanks once again. That does make sense as all the wild tokays I have seen have been from Thailand/peninsula Malaysia. Just checked EDDMaps and there are actually 2 other records for Sarasota county. A large green anole and a blue lizard with a yellow head?! have also been seen at my dads house...

Thanks Berkeley - is there any one thing that makes you sure of the ID? It bears very little similarity to tokays I have seen in terms of coloration as this is very drab and south east asian local tokays are all extremely colorful.
