Re: Underwater in the Northern Territory Australia
Thank you for your replies. I used 2 cameras for this with a total of about 40 hours of footage over a coupe of weeks. Believe it or not this was all filmed in a friends "backyard" which has a beautiful spring fed rainforest and creek system just 3 minutes walk from the house so access is ...

Underwater in the Northern Territory Australia
This is a video I shot in the Finniss River in the Top End of the NT in northern Australia. It gives you an idea of the variety of life in the upper reaches of this river system; mainly fish with a sprinkling of herps and crustaceans. The crocodiles in the film are Freshwater or Johnstone River Croc...

Great series of shots Matt, really showcasing the diversity of colour within this species.
Are they from all over the place or from particular region?
Those bright orange ones remind me of the front cover off one of Worrells Dangerous Snakes of Australia.

I would like to see some of the pictures that anyone on this forum has taken of Copperheads. I don't care what kind. I am just really interested in see what everyone has seen. Ok, probably not what you were thinking of, but these are what we know as Copperheads over here in Australia. Unlike your C...

Re: Spring! (Crote heavy as per usual).
Great post, really beautiful imagery, all nicely composed with beautiful colour.
I'm intrigued by how you did the image with the Collared lizards. Ok it's just a series of stills but how did you load it up so it plays them in sequence?

Re: Australian Snake ID
Agreed it looks like a Rough scaled Snake which also goes by the name of Clarence River Snake. A relative of the Tiger Snakes, it has been responsible for several fatalities and can be "easily" confued with the harmless Keelback which is found in many of the same areas.

How we protect wildlife in Australia
I was outraged to see this on one of the youtube channels I subscribe to. I don't know what the laws are in the States regarding things like this. Technically it is illegal to interfere with wildlife although I can't ever recall anyone being prosecuted for killing a snake, even when it's been well d...

Anyone have any pros or cons on the Go Pro or the Contour for shooting vids in the field? All depends on what type of video you want to shoot in the field! Can't offer any advice on the contour but here are some of my thoughts on the gopro. ** All comments relate to the Gopro HD1. There is a newer ...

Juvenile Eastern Brown Snake (Pseudonaja textilis)
I found this little Eastern Brown Snake swimming in the Snowy River on the NSW– VIC border over Xmas. Brown Snakes are fast moving alert elapids found over most of eastern Australia. They usually are around 1.2 m(4ft) but commonly grow to 2m(6ft) long. They are one snake that seems to have benefited...

Great observations and video.
Are the 3rd and 4th fingers on that monitor longer than normal? Perhaps if they are longer it is specifically for this purpose!

One of Australias' largest pythons the Olive Python Liasis olivaceus grows in excess of 4m (13ft) and is common in many areas of northern Australia. Thanks for the comments. The Pseudechis was around a metre or so and in prime condition...a really healthy immaculate snake with one of the reddest bellies (at least on the lateral scales) that I have seen.

Climbing behaviour in Tree Snakes (Dendrelaphis punctulata)
Has anyone observed tree snakes climbing like this before? It may be common practice but I...

Not sure what you mean Hans. No special effects here, it was all as shot out of the camera. If you mean the baby tiger snake...
