Since last time

Unfortunately, I haven't made much time to herp (let alone inhabit this forum) after spending the 2016 summer in Costa Rica. Here I'll post what little I have seen since I've been back stateside. January-May critters

As some of you guys know, I've been working in Costa Rica since May and won't return to my home in Georgia until the beginning of August. It's torrentially raining at the moment, so I suppose I'll be productive and throw up some photos I've been sitting on. Southern Red Salamander Pseudotriton r. vi...

Using your net to dredge aquatic vegetation can yield sirens, amphiuma, Farancia, Seminatrix, and an assortment of amphibian larvae. Try weedy ponds and backwaters.

Thanks, all! A DSLR makes a huge difference compared to point and shoot cameras. A macro lens or extension tubes also seem to be important. I have heard good things about Sigma's 105mm and Tamron's 90mm. There is also a 150mm worth looking at, if you have the $$. Canon also makes a 100mm macro lens ...
